Bites of pepper and sugar.

Life is like a hot plate of corn; with all the nourishment that each bolus of corn gives us and those few bites of pepper and sugar.
If suppose you shall go to a restaurant and ask for a bowl full of hot corn. What should you prefer? With pepper or sugar? Wouldn't you get what you ask from the cook?
Maybe you might choose it with pepper for the crisp, or maybe you shall bid for sugar for the sweet tooth you have. Or shall you desire it with little bit of both?
In the plate of life, where God is your cook, you are given what God prefers the best for you. Your witty life loves the crisp and sweetness, but in the process of so, it might want to enjoy the crisp, spice and all the condiment of flavorings more leaving the sweetness beyond.
So when the ‘spice of pepper’ strikes your ‘happy-sugar-full’ life and you are helpless and willing to quit the plate, eat what is served to you. Trust God and love your dish; as soon God will come to you and serve the sweetness you deserve.
In my personal experience I too have come across hurdles and difficulties of life. But fretting about it with creased eye brows all the time is not the solution. Staying happy in the situation and accepting however it is, finding ways to overcome them is the right way to live life. Hamming over the situation will not make it any easier. If you be cool and stay happy by finding happiness in smaller things too, life for you will become the hot corn plate with little bit of both pepper and sugar.
Inspired by a man on how to live life, I changed my attitude towards many things that people hyper react about. Some time if a stranger accidentally drops tea over you in a café, you both probably might scream a cry and curse someone, for absolutely no reason. I learnt not to scream, but rather smile, forgive and look forward to another task of the day.
The man I met was an accountant of a hearing-aid clinic. His parents ran the clinic. They help people who have any problem with hearing after they found that their son was partially deaf and mute. They could understand the pain, grief, distress and misery of such other parents, so they took the responsibility and gave free service. My father has hearing problem in his right ear. He too was given some small machine that worked on battery. I went to visit the center which was in the out town. It was not big one, but good enough for the needy. They had the best doctors appointed. So my uncle had suggested us this place.
When I entered the office, the accountant was speaking in sign languages with the doctor. His name was Rupesh. It made me feel sad at first that he was mute. Then I realized he was partially deaf too. My sadness deepened and my heart sank at the bottom. After sitting for few minutes, my father’s turn arrived to visit the doctor into the cabin. I was told to sit outside in the lobby. I saw the man smile and talk with the people. He was so blissful and at peace that nothing in this world ever seemed him wrong. He entertained small children who came there with magic tricks and laughed out whole heartily. All my sadness disappeared in his true delightful deride.
Even after his constant fight with ‘conversation’ everyday he was happy. He turned the pepper in the corn plate into sugar at his own comfort. Not only himself, but also he made others happy. The view of such nonchalance towards the hurdles of life inspired my normal life and I realized what I missed in my life. How much more could I steal the sugar from the cook of my plate or Corn? How much more happiness I could intake in the spice that my life has!
Some things could better be felt than explained. Even though it is told to us to remain happy in whatever situation may come, experience matters. I was inspired by someone, at someplace I never thought I would.
I still take afflatus from whomever I think is greater being than me and lives life a whole way better than I ever did. There is a whole big world around and I have made myself satisfied enough to find sugar in any dish that is made for me. The taste changes, but sugar remains forever.
With the Bites of pepper and sugar, I enjoy my plate of corn like it’s the tastiest of all. It is made by the best cook and I trust the quality and quantity he wants to set in for me. Faith after all, makes you do which you never thought you could.

  1. Wow ... Aditi, I enjoyed reading your blog.

In addition to the good advice that you gave about having "an-attitude-of-gratitude" for the various experiences that we are "dished" in life...
you also shared a view into your outlook on life, and your way of approaching those things that are not always pleasant or expecting.

Thank you for sharing with us ... YOU ROCK !
